We thought you’d like to hear about some of the exciting things our beneficiary, The Voices & Faces Project are working on right now. When we’re finished with this album, the proceeds of the sale will help to continue funding this vital work.
During May and June of 2010, The Voices and Faces Project – in
partnership with Making a Difference Canada, and through generous
funding from the Donner Canadian Foundation – will be expanding its
lecture series and non-profit documentary initiative into Canada. In
bringing our lecture/slide program and “media matters” workshops to
Canada, their goal is to share with our neighbors to the north our efforts
to use survivor testimony to change minds, hearts and public policies on
sexual violence and trafficking.
As part of the project’s expansion into Canada, Voices and Faces Project
documentary photographer Patricia Evans and writer Anne Ream recently
traveled to Prince Edward Island to interview and photograph a community
of survivors for their forthcoming book. While in the region, Anne sat
down with the Canadian Broadcast Company (Canadian Public Radio) to talk
about the importance of documentary efforts in social movements, and to
share the story of the project.

I was part of the Voices and Faces/Canada Initiative.
The impact of the slide show, panel discussion and media workshop was profound. Anne’s presentation is so powerful and moving. People appreciated the honesty, some came forward, and for the first time shared their story, and/or felt brave enough to begin the process of uncovering a painful secret. I continue to be moved by both the presentation(s) and the radio podcast. Stand up, applaud the Project!
